Choosing an End-Of-Life Doula
How do I and my circle of support choose an EOL Doula?
Choosing a doula is like choosing a therapist. You will be inviting this new person into your heart, mind, relationships and space during some of the most difficult times of your life. There are a wide range of doula options out there which is to your benefit. You want to find a connection that feels natural to you. My best advice is to reach out to a few whose websites appeal to you and spend time talking with them. You will likely know quite quickly if your connection is right.

You can frequently meet several end-of-life doulas at a "Death Cafe":
people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. There several every month throughout San Diego County.
